What
would you say is the imminent need of a collaboration product, like
metalayer?
I would rather like to elaborate on the possibilities
of a product like metalayer. metalayer does not fit into the definition
of a normal product. metalayer is a platform and it derives its
potential by the flexibility as a platform and the wide range of
tools it provides. Unlike process focused solutions, metalayer allows
people to converse in a very human way and to freely exchange information.
This is because metalayer supports conversations and not just data
processing. All the knowledge and data is stored and displayed in
a contextual manner rather than in rigid structures, which gives
the possibility for a much livelier human dialogue. This means that
metalayer can encourage greater understanding and communication
within an organization.
How can you explain lack of structure as an advantage to an organization?
Rigid
structures do not mean that knowledge is preserved; rather these
structures can break the very totality of knowledge. Structures
are important to get things done efficiently - but in a time where
knowledge and idea creation is becoming the key success factor of
an enterprise, different things are becoming important: Context
driven knowledge spaces, freedom to hold conversations in a natural
form and sharing of knowledge. This can only happen if the underlying
technology provides the open space to collaborate and work together
naturally rather than clenched in fixed processes and structures.
A platform should be a platform and not a method.
What do you see as the important factors while implementing a co-creation
and collaboration solution like metalayer?
metalayer
is not just a utility or a tool, but a different way of working.
The main challenge with implementing metalayer is, that you have
to implement a complete new working culture at the same time: A
transparent way of working, extensive communication between employees,
a culture of sharing of knowledge, co-working on tasks and co-creating
ideas. metalayer encourages relationship building within an organization
and also with customers, clients and partners.
What are the financial benefits metalayer can deliver and how?
What
are the financial benefits of people in your organization talking
to each other and exchanging knowledge? What are is the financial
benefit of matching the right people at the right time? What is
the benefit of transparency? metalayer drastically cuts your communication
costs. You can have virtual meetings that are flexible enough to
substitute real meetings. Presentations are made over the platform,
and also general communication. A lot of paper work gets redundant
by using features like questionnaire, vote and web forms. Our customers
have saved much on travel cost. metalayer also can save you on customer
relationship building by allowing you to build communities where
your customers interact directly with you. These are some tangible
cost savings our customers are reporting to us. The intangible value
created through co-creation, collaboration and transparency is much
more difficult to measure. Intangible Asset Monitoring gives an
enterprise a transparency and the ability to manage collective intangible
knowledge in an efficient manner. Innovation receives a thrust due
to continuous interactions in and between communities. The "Social
Quotient" of your organization increases, thus providing the needed
impetus to change your employees into knowledge workers and substantially
increasing the company's intangible value.
How has the experience of working with metalayer been different
from your earlier work engagements?
There
is a sea of difference. I have learnt to improve my work by constant
feedback and inputs from not only fellow workers but from everyone
inside and outside the organization. I have learnt to work on quality
by a transparent work environment, which really leaves no space
for compromises. I do not have to adapt to processes anymore and
my communication has really taken a natural turn, which is really
helpful in collaboration. It's like talking rather than an endless
circle of sending and receiving. There is no insecurity anymore
and I feel more confident of myself working in an open culture.
I feel free.
