What is your area of work in the development
of the solution?
I am basically involved in what we call as the MOB (metalayer object
builder) and other Core Development Functions.
Please
explain what do you mean by MOB, in a common man's language?
It is often the case with many solutions that the users want certain
changes in particular features. We are working towards a concept
called MOB which allows the user to easily customize the features
according to his needs - all will happen fully within the browser.
The user can also create hybrid features and decide the way these
features should be displayed. For e.g. a user can customize the
news feature by including a comment box along with. This transfers
the power right in the hand of the user ... But I guess I shouldn't
talk too much of this, because it is not yet released anything to
the public.
Going
away from the technical details - You are one of the first metalayer
employees. How did you change and how has metalayer helped you as
an individual in this organization?
I have really changed as a professional. Interacting with people
so often has helped me develop team qualities. I feel more comfortable
about making decisions. I feel open about discussing my problem
- and very often these discussions result in solving of the problem.
I do not waste time pondering over a problem for a long time all
by myself. I believe that every problem has a solution and if you
try together, you can find it. The key is to talk to people. Also
I feel more comfortable now sharing my ideas and putting my thoughts
out in the open space. I have really started to use the philosophy
of collaboration and more co-creation in my day to day life - and
its really exciting!
Why
do you think metalayer has the potential it promises?
In metalayer, I have become a person who is never daunted by a problem
anymore. I share my thoughts with my peers and I feel great working
in a transparent work place like this. I am more efficient and the
quality of my work has improved fundamentally. If metalayer can
bring this big a change in me and my way of working, it certainly
has the business potential it promises. After all a company is about
it's people!
In
what business areas do you think metalayer mainly works best?
metalayer
will work best in environments where all work is not centralized,
and there are different groups working separate from each other
but working towards the same end, and need to often share knowledge.
Basically any organization which relies on communication and knowledge
heavily will find metalayer extremely advantageous financially and
in boosting intangibles like knowledge and employee value. Other
companies with geographically wide network markets and offices will
benefit from metalayer and use it's features to communicate in all
possible manners with each other. For them metalayer has the potential
to become a total converged communication solution.
"Every problem has a solution and if you try, you can find
it. The key is to talk to people".
