Managing Comties
ARCHIVE
A Comty is our own work place and to keep it clean we have
to archive old content. We can archive Content, Section as
well as the whole Comty.

To archive content click on the content or object to get the
shuttle, click the 'Edit' link and use the 'Archive' link
in the Edit Window to archive the content.

To archive section click on the section bar and click the
'Edit' link in the shuttle. The Edit Section window will be
placed below the section. Click the 'Archive'link.
·
What if you want to view the archived content? There is a
provision to view and restore archived content. Just click
on the 'Archive Comty' link at the bottom of the navigation
structure. A popup with all the archived content will appear.
Just click on the 'Restore' link next to the content you want
to restore and voila, it's back to its original position.

A comty has served its purpose, what to do with it now? Simple,
just archive the entire comty. To archive comty click the
'Edit Comty' link. Click "Archive" link in 'Edit
Comty' window to archive comty.

An Archived comty can be restored by using "Comty Archive"
link at the bottom of navigation structure. Once you click
"Comty Archive" link, a pop up will show from where
you can go to the archived comty. Use the 'Restore' link at
the top of the comty page to bring the comty at its original
position.

CREATING
COMTY
· Go to the parent Comty under which you want to create
the sub Comty.
· Click "Create New Comty"
· Enter a Comty ID. This is the unique internal name
for that Comty. This is one word.
· Enter a Title for the Comty. This is the name, which
will appear on the screen.
· You may add a Sub Title and a description Text (Purpose
of the Comty)
· Enter submit
· After submitting you will be in the new Comty. Click
"Participate"to start adding sections and sharing
information with other Comty members.

EDITING
COMTY
· While in the Comty, click on "Edit Comty"and
you can then make appropriate changes.

MOVING
COMTIES, SECTIONS ETC.
What if the content in a comty belongs to a context in another?
Simple, move it right into the context. This Object lets you
move an Object into another Section of another Comty.

Use the Edit option in the shuttle and click on the 'Move'
link. Decide the target section in the target comty and click
on 'Submit' to move.
· Similarly you can move a whole section from one comty
to another comty. To move a section, click on the section
bar and click on 'Edit' link in the shuttle. Use the 'Move'
link in the Edit Window to move the section.
· Not only this, you can also move an entire comty
from one place to other. For this you have to select 'Edit
Comty' option. Click the 'Move Comty' link and provide target
parent comty id under which you want to move the comty.

Managing
Members
MANAGE
MEMBERS
· Use 'Manage Members'if you wish to add new members,
giving them a User Name and a Password. They can always change
their Password in their own 'My Profile' once they have logged
on. You can also change the user status of the participant
by using 'Manage Members'[Read
Also Access Rights]

INVITATION
· Use an 'Invitation' to invite someone new to participate
in the Comty.
· Click the section bar to get the Shuttle. Click the
"Invitation" link in the Shuttle to launch the 'Create
Invitation' form. If the section is not 'Invitation', click
the 'More' link and type 'invitation' in the text box next
to the drop down menu.
· Provide the Invitation name and description. Select
access rights to be given and choose the Invitation Expiry
date. Browse for the Comty Id to which the member is to be
registered. For registering to sub Comties tick the check
box provided. Click 'Submit'.
· Click 'Link' in the Invitation object. The Invitation
URL will appear in the popup.
· Copy this Invitation URL and send it to the members
through eMail or upload it on the portal to which the member
has access.
· The recipient Member will be redirected to the logon
page. New members will have to sign up and will get access
to the Comties for which the Invitation was sent.

KEY (ACCESS
KEY) - specifies
sub-comty
The Access Key Object enables users to create an online invitation
to a Comty. The invitation contains the Comty name and user
access right for the invited portal user. The Admin can invite
users to specific Comties by supplying their direct link to
the Comty through eMail or through any of metalayer's Comty
objects.
· Click the section bar to get the Shuttle. Click the
"Key" link in the Shuttle to launch the ‘Create
key’ form. If the section is not 'Key', click the 'More'
link in the Shuttle and type 'key'in the text box next to
the drop down menu.
· Provide the Name and description of the Key, select
access rights for the members and
choose the key expiry date and 'Submit'.
· Click 'Link' in the Key object. The Key URL will
appear in the popup.
· Copy the key URL and send it to members through eMail
or upload on the portal for which member has access.
· The recipient member will be redirected to the logon
page. New members will have to sign up and will get access
to the Comty for which 'Key' is created.

REGISTRATION
-- Combination of Invitation and Key
This is a process of pre-registering participants.
· Prior to using the Registration, ensure that a member
has access to the Comty by checking the manage members link.
· Go to the section and click below the section heading
to launch a “Creating reg” form. Provide a suitable
registration name and purpose. Add the Comty ID for which
the registration is to be created. Members can also be registered
to its sub Comties. Click 'Submit'.
· Click 'Detail' to add members to be registered and
add the member ID’s.
· To add members directly tick the 'Register Users
Directly' option, or the added members will get the Accept/Cancel
link on their Times Page.
· The recipient member will get an 'Accept/Cancel'
link in the Times. This link remains on the Times page of
that user unless and until the user clicks 'Accept' or 'Cancel'.

Special
Features
HTML
HTML files are use to place permanent material on the Comty
and to help shape the visual and textual environment.
It is possible for an administrator to upload HTML text between
the sections. Go on top of the Comty and open the Shuttle.
An administrator will see the choice to create a "Section"
or a "HTML" object in the Shuttle. Choose HTML and
then insert any HTML text within the textbox of theform. Choose
the location within this Comty (top, left or right) where
it should be located and then click Submit. Please ask for
help with this function.

QUESTIONNAIRE
TEMPLATE
For an explanation of how to create a questionnaire template
see 'Questionnaire' in the 'Common Objects' sub-section.

SECTION
· An Administrator should think carefully about the
Sections that should be available on the Comty at the beginning.
The Sections create the context for the various elements of
the Comty. An Administrator should look at some existing Comties
to see what might be done.
· To create a 'Section', place the cursor (arrow) at
the very top of the Comty, just above your name. Open the
Shuttle and click on 'Section'
· Give the 'Section' a name. For the time being leave
the option "General" as it is.
· Choose the location for the 'Section." It may
be at the Top, Left, Right or Bottom.
